Support St.Elizabeth Health Centre Jan.2024

In January, we visited the St. Elizabeth Health Centre in Bumangi, an island in the Ssese Islands group on Lake Victoria. Recently, one of the first dental outreach events took place here, organized and carried out in collaboration between Good Hands Dental Care Africa and the St. Elizabeth Health Centre.

On the remote islands, access to medical care is severely limited. Dentists are not available here; to see a dentist, residents would have to take a ferry to Entebbe – a significant barrier, especially for those who rely on fishing for their livelihood.

The Health Centre, led by Sister Sikolasitika, provides basic medical care for malaria patients and those with HIV, serving as the first point of contact for all medical assistance. It also offers maternity services, including care during and after pregnancy.

We supported the Health Centre with a financial donation to further promote its work. We hope to conduct another dental outreach here in the future and see the Health Centre as a promising local partner for collaboration.
